I can assure you that the tank is in the exact same condition that it was in when Ace sold it to me 2 years ago. It's literally sat under my grill and made two short trips back Ace to get refilled. I've never had a problem before.
I bring it in today to get refilled and am told its too beat up. They can't do anything about it. They can't refill it. They can't replace it. The Ace employee advises me to take it to Safeway (across the parking lot). Safeway will exchange it, he tell me.
Fortunately, Safeway did take it. Super smooth exchange. Hooray for Safeway!
Ace Hardware though, has lost my trust. They just flat out refused to help me, even though the propane tank was originally purchased and refilled multiple times by them. For a business that needs to win on customer service (because they definitely aren't winning on price or selection), I don't even understand how they can be so brain-dead with their customer service and support
