Took my 5 year old, she loved the dolls and toys. There are areas set up for the kids to play and a scavenger hunt. We are enjoying ourselves and would suggest this place. Very unique.
Okay, so if we are talking about how good of shape the cottage is in, I give it a 2, those 2 for effort to keep it up. But luckily, they are finding a new venue to house their beautiful collection. Currently, under half of their collection is on display, & it wonderfully showcases how culture has changed over time through doll houses, toy trains, dolls, & so much more. When I first came up to it, I thought it would be horrible & creepy. Go inside & see how hard they are trying to preserve history through toys, & you won't want to stop looking around. Their collection includes several doll houses of Native American housing, one of the only 58 in the World Miss. Yokohama dolls (a wonderful display of Japanese culture & shows a bit of history of U.S.-Japan relations.), & a WWI area doll house are among my favorite. This museum is worth a stop!
I was a little freaked out by all the tiny eyeballs staring at me, but this place was pretty cool. My traveling buddy absolutely loved it. A whole room of Polly Pockets!
As new miniature enthusiasts my daughter and I really enjoyed seeing the museum for the first time. Small but wonderful. The miniatures and houses, especially the Someday House took us some time to look at and enjoy all the tiny details. It's also a great reflection of dolls and toys through time. The Star Wars exhibit was also fun. We thought the house and it's history (Pearce McAllister Cottage) is truly the perfect backdrop for such a museum and we loved looking at the Cottage structure itself as much as everything else! Oh the history there. History Colorado should be utterly ashamed of themselves for the lack of care it has given to this 120 year old beauty for the last 25 years. Why have they not committed more effort to preserving this historical home for our children and their children instead of allowing it to fall to such disrepair for an extended period of time? Just shameful.
Great selection of amazing dolls and miniatures from around the country and the world; exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable staff. They're currently inn a small house inn Denver but are looking for a new place by the end of the summer. It's amazing--go support them!! It's free, but they take donations and habe a great gift shop. There's 2 floors with an incredible array of beautiful, unique, funny, and amazing objects.
